San Pedro, Belize
February 2017

We’re back in Belize!  This is our second time visiting this gorgeous island.   We loved our ocean view suite.

There was great snorkeling right in front of our hotel.  We saw yellow fish, puffer fish, star fish, barracuda, sting rays and a green moray eel!san pedro belize vacation
Their is a husband-wife team who make stewed chicken and black beans and rice right on the beach in front of our hotel each day.  It’s delicious!

The moon rise over the ocean on our first night was so bright it almost looked like the sun was coming up.san pedro belize vacationYou can’t get lemons in San Pedro, so instead of having lemon juice in the morning we had lime juice.   It’s high in vitamin C, and low in sugar and is the perfect way to start the day.  We’ve been doing lemon juice in the morning for two years now, and haven’t been sick since starting it.

The food in Belize is amazing!  From freshly baked cinnamon bread at the local bakery to made from scratch fry jacks and tortillas.    There is also our absolute favorite place to eat.. The Truck Stop.  It has something for everyone and is SO GOOD!  We especially enjoyed the spring rolls and Malaysian noodle dishes.

san pedro belize vacationThe morning sunrises over the ocean are amazing in San Pedro.  Up early for zip-lining and cave tubing… and of course Rum Punch for the road!
san pedro belize vacationBack to the Truck Stop for dinner.  This time we tried the pizza, and local dog shared with us.  He was a picky eater and would only eat the cheese off the top.  🙂  The Truck Stop even has outdoor movie nights.

san pedro belize vacationA day on the Rum Punch II sailboat with our awesome captain George.  We sailed to Caye Caulker and had the BEST jerk chicken at the Rainbow Grill.
san pedro belize vacationThe local animal shelter on Caye Caulker.  So many cute dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes.
san pedro belize vacationsan pedro belize vacationA day of exploring the island.. and of course the Truck Stop for lunch.  The best pork tacos ever!

san pedro belize vacationThis was interesting.  A golf cart started on fire.  The fire department drove by us on their way to put the fire out, but they were going the WRONG way.  So the fire was put out by some of the local people with a garden hose.  Each night we would relax on our patio, enjoying the ocean breeze with wine and wifi.
san pedro belize vacationWe were having such a great time we decide to extend our stay by a few days.
san pedro belize vacationAfter getting our flight changed we went parasailing.  The view of the turquoise water below us was spectacular!
san pedro belize vacationOur original hotel was booked, so we had to find a new one.   Here’s our view!  The restaurant next door had great food and drinks, but they were definitely on island time.
san pedro belize vacationThe Baker made awesome granola bars and cinnamon rolls that we will for sure come back for on our next trip.
san pedro belize vacationOur last breakfast at El Divino before catching our flight home on Tropic Air.  One last Rum Punch and Bloody Mary.
